Edwin and Joy Mejia launched their career in the dessert industry with a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop in Temple Hills, Maryland in 1972. In 1978 the couple noticed a Tiffany's Bakery located in a nearby mall that seemed to be doing especially well. Combining their knowledge gained operating the ice cream shop with Edwin's many years of experience working in the food industry for Marriott Corporation, they decided to open their own Tiffany's Bakery franchise. They chose a location in the Iverson Mall in Temple Hills, Maryland. The bakery was an instant hit, and the Mejias soon sold their Baskin Robbins store to focus on Tiffany's. They opened a second location in Clinton, Maryland in 2002, which serves as the location for Tiffany's Bakery today. The Iverson Mall location was open for 31 years before closing in 2009.

Although the national franchise known as Tiffany's Bakeries, Inc. no longer exists, Edwin and Joy's bakery is still going strong. Today it continues under the Tiffany's Bakery name as a family owned and operated business more than three decades after it opened. Edwin and Joy Mejia are proud to have been joined by their three daughters, Yvette, Roxanne, and Suzette (now retired) as well as their grandson Kyle and granddaughter Erica, making for three generations of Mejia bakers.

We Know Cakes


While some bakeries sell breads and pastries, at Tiffany's Bakery we've chosen to focus on cakes. We offer all kinds: birthday cakes, wedding cakes, dessert cakes, sculptured cakes, ice cream cakes, and cupcakes. Yes, we know cakes!

As specialists, we take our chosen niche very seriously. By using only the freshest, finest ingredients, we're able to ensure our cakes taste as good as they look. We've been members of the Retail Bakers Association for more than 25 years. We're continually seeking to enhance our skills and provide new cake-related products to our customers. Toward that end, we've participated in training with some of the top bakers in the world including: Ron Ben-Israel, owner of Ron Ben-Israel Cakes in New York City; Bronwen Weber, pastry chef on The Food Channel, Minette Rushing, owner of Custom Cakes in Savannah, GA; Julie Bashore, owner of Julie Bashore School of Cake Decorating; Geraldine Randlesome, owner of Geraldine's Creative Cutters; Ruth Rickey, master sugar artist; Ashley Vicos, Food Network's Have Cake, Will Travel; and Buddy Valastro, TLC's Cake Boss.

Although we're located in Clinton, Maryland, our customers come from all over the state as well as from Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. We've known many of them for years, some for decades. We love it when a customer says, "You made my wedding cake and now you're making my daughter's!" Everyone who comes in or calls to place a cake order at Tiffany's Bakery receives personalized attention. We enjoy guiding people through the many choices involved in customizing a cake to their preferences. Our mission remains the same as it was the day we opened almost 40 years ago: We want to make sure our cake will serve as the perfect delicious complement to your special occasion.
